Hi guys
As you know we will not be having our planned Fashion Show meeting on Wednesday. This means that it will be even more important for you to communicate on the blog and read Fashion Labs blogspot regularly to keep up to date with the changes that are happening. Below I have listed the roles that are required - once you have chosen your role you will need to keep a diary of everything you get up to on your own blog as well as update the communal blog .
Press - Obviously we would like to get lots of press for the show! The Diploma is a very hot topic for the press at the moment so it should be fairly easy to persuade them to come. If you choose to be in this team you will need to keep up to date with the fashion blog to make sure you don't overlap any press contacts. This task will involve writing and sending press releases, photographing the show to send out press shots, faxing/emailing/phoning press offices.
Sponsorship - There is limited budget for the show so we always try to get as many free things as possible for the goody bags that are given to our VIPs. This role will involve a lot of phone calls and emails trying to persuade people to sponsor you with anything from tights, shoes, catsuits, hairspray, makeup, Tshirts etc - basically anything you might want to use in the show
Hair and Makeup
- As you have chosen to have your own set of models you will also need to think about looks for hair and makeup, we will have a team of hair and make up people at the show but they will need direction from you. This role will involve looking at current trends in hair and makeup, doing test runs and test shots in catwalk lighting. - If you feel that you want to use a set of MBC models then you will need to think of a way they can be transform very quickly. To suit the look you are thinking of - ie wigs or masks (they have 3 mins to change)
Music - One of the main features of a fashion show is the music, it would be great if you can make your own music for your show. Remember it needs to be easy to walk to and at least 4mins long so we have enough time to send all the models down the catwalk before fading to the next track.
Models
- If you intend to send body adornments out - one per model you will need 17 models (this will be a challenge) It may be easier to add more to our sets of models r put more that one adornment on a model. As part of this role you will need to make posters asking for models, get consent from parents/guardians of those who are under 18. Models need a lot of management on the day and this is not a job for the faint hearted, you will need to have the confidence to walk up to strangers on the street. You need to be very organised keeping a file of photos that include the following info on your models: shoe size, bust size, waist, hips, hair length, hair colour, skin colour
Show catalogue: It is up to you how you want the format of your catalogue to be, it will need to be black and white and a restricted number of pages. Think imaginatively, for example could it be one roll of paper, or postcards? Will you use drawings or photographs of the designs? This project will need to be run by a group of people who have a good eye for graphic design and can write creatively too.
The overall theme for the show is going to be "Laboratory" this might help you think about some more ideas. If you have any ideas to contribute to the whole show please do not be afraid to add these comments to the communal board.
I look forward to reading about your ideas as you work on them over the half term.
Emily
